CRITICAL REVIEW SERVICE
Do you have a case for support or funding application that would benefit from a critical review?
You may need a critical review from someone outside of your charity because you need the view of someone less familiar with your work, someone with bid writing expertise or because you don’t have the capacity to meet a tight deadline. A critical review is an excellent way to ensure that your application has the best chance of securing funding and you have the peace of mind that it has been reviewed by a bid writing expert, with a ‘fresh pair of eyes’.
It is very hard to critique your own work, especially in bid writing, as it is difficult to look at your own organisation from an external point of view. Our knowledge and experience of application and assessment processes means we are able to identify areas you may have overlooked. Often, charities have the right information, but have not presented it in the most compelling way for funders or may have missed out some evidence that would strengthen the case for funding — that is where we come in.
Whether your application needs a few minor changes, some restructuring or more significant editing, this can be what will:
Turn a no into a yes! Significantly increase success rates!
How the service works
Select the type of application you need us to review. Upload your application (in Word format) and any appendices such as your budget (Excel format), with the funding programme guidance documents. All information provided will be treated as confidential.
Within one working day, we will check that we have everything we need from you and contact you if we have any queries.
We will schedule a time for the feedback call with you – this is usually one week from your purchase date but can be sooner where deadlines are tight.
Within three working days of your purchase, your fundraising consultant will review your documents against the following:
- Does the application meet all of the funder’s eligibility and criteria requirements?
- Does the proposal/application make a clear and compelling case for support (both logical and emotive), covering all of the key issues funders assess?
- Does the application answer all of the funder’s questions fully?
- Are there any other issues to consider such as value for money, financial information, governance?
On the feedback call, which can last for up to one hour, your fundraising consultant will clarify any feedback that was not clear to you and discuss recommendations on how to improve the proposal/application.
How quickly will you receive feedback?
- Generic proposals and stage 1 applications – written feedback within two working days and the feedback call a few days later
- Full applications – written feedback within three working days and the feedback call a few days later
- Express service – written feedback and the feedback call within 24 hours.
