Session Details

1. Fundraising strategy for small to medium size charities

Alex Blake will introduce you to each step of our process so that you can develop your own fundraising strategy.

Working through our template, you will be able to explore key elements of fundraising strategy. After this session, you will have a better understanding of how to develop the full detail of the strategy to produce a set of recommendations, actions and forecasts for your charity.

Together, we will go through the process of how to undertake an internal and external review of the current situation for your charity, before exploring each of the fundraising income streams to assess the potential opportunity for your charity.

 


2. The Lego approach to trust fundraising

Fun, colourful, engaging, mass-appealing, adaptable, reliable, successful; just some of the words that can describe Lego. We would all love to use these words to describe our trust fundraising approach. This session will focus on how you can incorporate a Lego Approach to trust fundraising through using building blocks to create a compelling case for support.

Sector feedback is that trust fundraising is becoming more difficult with reports of amplified competition and tightening criteria.

Amy Appleton will equip you with the tools you need to write or refresh a case for support that will lay the foundations for successful trust fundraising and tell you what to expect along the way.

3. Supporter journeys, corporate fundraising and you

Strong relationships are the very foundation in which all aspects of fundraising are built upon – but knowing where to start can often feel overwhelming!

Ashley Elliott will cover:

  • Supporter journeys – what they are and how to create one
  • The reasons why relationship building in fundraising is so important
  • Identifying who you should approach and how you should approach them
  • A series of simple and practical steps to apply when seeking new relationships with corporates
  • How to transform corporate donors into long lasting, fruitful partnerships.

Offering a safe space for open and dynamic discussions, Ashley will be sharing some tried and tested top tips to build, develop and maintain your supporter relationships.

You will benefit from this workshop if you are involved in your charity’s fundraising, whether that is leading the fundraising programme, developing strategy or raising funds from grant- makers, corporates and community fundraising.

Your role will likely be one of the following: Trustee, Chief Executive, Director, Director/Head of Fundraising, sole Fundraiser or a fundraiser specialising in trusts, grants, corporate partnerships or community fundraising.

 

 


Who is delivering these sessions

This event is brought to you by KEDA Consulting. We help small to medium size charities to secure funding and develop successful fundraising programmes. With a focus on securing core funding for ongoing services and organisational costs, KEDA’s team has worked with over 80 charities, raising over £19 million in the last six years.

 

Alex Blake is KEDA Consulting’s founding director and has overseen our delivery of support for over 70 charities. Alex has been responsible for raising around £30 million for a diverse range of charities, developing successful fundraising strategies and transforming previously underperforming income streams. Alex has also acted as an advisor for charity chief executives and boards, provided the administration of a grant-making trust and is a trustee at LD: North East and Future Builders Uganda.

Amy Appleton is a Fundraising Consultant with a strong track record of tailoring approaches to diverse audiences, which has resulted in successfully securing millions across a range of income streams. Amy has developed successful funding approaches to charitable trusts, lottery and statutory grantmakers, and through developing long term and ‘charity of the year’ corporate partnerships. Amy is also a trustee of the Summerhill Trust, a small community charity.

Ashley Elliott is a successful fundraiser with experience in both leading a fundraising team and directing a small charity as its sole member of staff. Ashley joined KEDA in November 2019 from St Oswald’s Hospice where she was responsible for leading a fundraising team of eight people, raising over £2 million per year from corporate, community and events fundraising. Prior to that role, Ashley led the charity Bright Red, taking responsibility for all aspects of the charity’s management, from grant-making to fundraising, marketing to governance, and more than tripled community fundraising income over a 5-year timeframe.
