2 November – 30 November 2021 | 10.00am – 12.00pm

We know that charities like yours change people’s lives and it’s your role to secure the grant funding that will help to increase your impact.

The trust fundraising and bid writing process can be challenging, frustrating and deliver low success rates when your team have limited experience or aren’t sure where to focus. We’ve developed our training to help you build your skills in what drives success in this key area of income generation. After this training programme, you will be better equipped to:

  • Increase your total grant income

  • Secure more core funding

  • Build more long-term relationships with funders

  • Improve your internal relationships and systems to increase effectiveness.

Our Trust Fundraising Training

The training is a step-by-step masterclass with practical tools and resources that you can use to develop your charity’s trust fundraising programme.

We will explore the practical elements of trust fundraising including:

  1. Prospects: how to identify and prioritise the funders that are most likely to support your charity with the size of grant funding you need.
  2. Case for support: how to articulate, with evidence and emotion, why funders should support your charity/project.
  3. Applications: how to tailor approaches to meet the requirements of each prioritised funder from initial phone calls through to written applications.
  4. Relationships with funders: how to exceed reporting requirements, demonstrate impact and build lasting relationships with funders.
  5. Management: how to develop the internal relationships you need to build compelling cases for support and applications.

The purpose of this training is to deliver practical advice that you can take and apply to your own charity. Each session will be around two hours, comprising advice, discussion and interactive activities. The training will be delivered through a combination of video chat and screen sharing.

A series of digital practical handouts and links to additional resources will accompany each module with a small task set between each session. There are also opportunities for peer support and continued collaboration with other participants.

We ask our participants for feedback at the end of each training course:

  • 100% of participants said they would recommend this training
  • 100% of participants now feel more confident in securing grant funding
  • All modules, training delivery and supporting materials were rated as ‘excellent’.

“I just wanted to say thank you so much! I have never had such explicit conversations on what to do in this role. So many trainings are regurgitating the same advice (often without really practically telling you how to put something into practice). Your training was so clear and precise it honestly is the best training I’ve ever attended. I’ll be using all your templates and watching the videos again. Thank you!”

Claire Larkin, Training Participant, May 2021.

“I am sad that the training is finished – always a good sign, but also really excited to put what I have learned into practice.

I liked the clear layout of the course. I appreciated all the templates that are really useful. I feel like I am cheating, yet also delighted to save our charity time and their precious resources by having them.

I was also pleased to read the follow-on emails with all the additional KEDA resources.

I cannot think of anything that I would change. This course really is excellent value for money and, speaking to others who have been on similar training, they paid over £1,500 for inferior courses.

Every penny at our small charity is hard-earned and so I hate spending anything that is not benefitting the young people directly. In this case, I am sure that the training will be invaluable in raising more funds, targeting grants more intelligently and hopefully increasing our capacity to support more young people from our community. A BIG THANK YOU!”

Kathryn Magro, Training Participant, October 2020.

Who is the training for?

Whether you are new to grant applications or have been a trust fundraiser for years, you will benefit from this training if any of the following resonate with you:

  • You can’t always get what you need from colleagues for your case for support and applications.
  • You struggle to build long term relationships with funders so feel like you’re starting from scratch each year.
  • It’s difficult to know how to best use your limited time to maximise your grant funding potential.
  • You are not sure which funders are best to approach or how best to approach each of them.
  • You’re securing smaller grants but are missing out on the major grants you really need.
  • You have lots of restricted funding but it’s difficult to secure core funding.
  • You have the information funders ask for but you feel like other charities are getting more success than you are.

The benefits you will gain from this training

  • The knowledge, confidence and skills to help you:
    • Increase grant income this year
    • Start each year with more confirmed income
    • Secure five, six and even seven figure grants
    • Develop longer term relationships with funders
    • Improve the effectiveness of your trust fundraising programme
  • Time to reflect on and improve your trust fundraising practice through interactive learning in a supportive group of your peers
  • Resources to use in your trust fundraising, including templates for prospect research, case for support and forecasting
  • Expand your network by connecting with your peers on the course through our online community.

Who delivers this training?

Since KEDA Consulting was established in November 2013, we have secured over £20 million for our clients and our team have raised millions more in their prior roles. On average, for every £1 spent on our trust fundraising services, our clients have received £12 in grant income, compared to an industry benchmark of £9. We ask our clients for feedback and 100% say they would work with us again.

Our training is based on our skills, knowledge and resources that have been built over time and are used in practice daily through our trust fundraising service for clients. We are always learning about what works best and how grant making trends are developing so that we can incorporate this into our client service and training programme.

Our trust fundraising training is delivered by Amy Appleton, one of KEDA Consulting’s team of fundraising consultants since April 2018. Amy has a strong track record of securing large grants for our clients and helping them to develop successful trust fundraising programmes that maximise their grant funding potential. Amy has a popular training style and has received excellent feedback from participants at our training events and at external conferences, for example Amy received the highest feedback scores of all speakers at the Institute of Fundraising’s 2019 North East Fundraising Conference.

“I am an experienced fundraiser and have attended several trust fundraising courses over the years. I was looking for a good refresher course and this one exceeded my expectations. This is definitely the best trust fundraising course I have ever attended. The module on relationships with funders would have been worth the course fee on its own!”  Training participant, October 2020.

“Even though I have made many trust and grant applications, I felt that I needed to look at my approach to applications. These sessions have given me the tools and information I need to improve my writing skills and develop my bid writing.”  Training participant, May 2021.

“For me, the templates are incredible – just so helpful to see how someone else orders their info. What stood out about this training is how thorough and comprehensive it is. Everything is spelled out, even telephone conversations. This makes it memorable and inspires confidence.”  Training participant, May 2021.
