BSAVA had historically funded the Petsavers grant programme from investment income but decided to generate the required income through fundraising. Following unsuccessful attempts to raise funds from the general public, a new strategy was required with work to identify the right message and methods to raise funding.
We undertook a review of Petsavers’ fundraising and marketing activity, workshops with internal stakeholders and produced a fundraising strategy paper that set out a ‘test and learn’ approach to identify the most effective fundraising approaches for its audience during the first 12 months. We then helped Petsavers to commission fundraising consultants specialising in corporate partnerships and individual giving to develop these income streams and to gather learning to inform the longer term fundraising strategy.
Our support enabled BSAVA Petsavers to:
- Make an informed decision on the focus of its fundraising investment/activity in year one
- Appoint fundraisers with the specialist skills and experience to test and deliver the agreed fundraising approaches
- Evaluate the results, learning and recommendations from year one fundraising activity
- Make an informed decision on the subsequent fundraising strategy.
KEDA were an invaluable support in helping us define and move forwards the next steps for our fundraising strategy. We had recently been going through a strategic review of activities, and had no internal fundraising expertise or resource. KEDA filled the gap and lent us their expertise, making the whole process of agreeing a direction and finding the right support so much quicker and easier than it ever would have been without them.
